Simon’s commercial background of over 20 years with a major global company gave him significant change management experience, in leading improvement by developing robust systems and the capacities of people. More recently, Simon changed career direction after completing a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited course in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling: he gives time each week to support a not for profit counselling agency in Somerset.
Simon, who is also a National Leader of Governance led The Collaborative Academies Trust Board, as Chair through a period of development and transformation, and has worked effectively with external partners to introduce new Trustees. These Trustees bring with them a range of skills to challenge and support the Trust’s development. Simon brings an in-depth knowledge and understanding as the former Chair of the Trust. His range of experiences include governance, school improvement practices, business strategy and leading people. This experience leaves him well placed to steer the Trust through its next phase of development, building on opportunities for growth and developing CAT’s reputation as a rapidly improving MAT.
Simon is deeply committed to developing and enriching the work of the Trust, and in doing so supporting the life chances of every child in our care. He passionately believes that our children deserve to live the lives they aspire to, and have their aspirations broadened and deepened through their education in our schools.
